Featuring a piston engine, the Voodoo air vehicle was developed using advanced composite materials and manufacturing techniques well proven in the aerospace and motor sport industries. Capable of a sustained, straight and level airspeed of over 300 knots, Voodoo is catapult launched and recovered via a parachute. It is fitted with Meggitt Training Systems own mature, command and control system with digital autopilot, telemetry, differential GPS and waypoint navigation system for accurate and reliable flight profiles to ranges of over 100 km. Up to four vehicles may be operated simultaneously from one ground control station which also enables an entire mission, including launch and recovery, to be performed automatically. Flight to altitudes of over 6,000 meters may be achieved with Voodoo, and the addition of a radar altimeter allows the target to achieve reliable controlled flight to altitudes as low as five meters. Alternative features are available to vary the system's performance, to suit customer requirements and to provide specific enhancement for a range of weapon system sensors. These include passive and active radar enhancement, radar chaff and infrared decoy dispensing pods, pyrotechnic visual and infrared enhancements plus a variety of black-body infrared augmentation devices.
